Did you see the New York Times Book Review of Simon Widner’s new book on James Bond’s place in English culture and politics? Those of you paying attention to what’s going on here at Spot-on might have found it familiar. Marshal Zeringue, our book guy, had some similar thoughts a few weeks ago when he asked “Is James Bond a Misogynist?

There’s no telling what possessed Deborah Klosky to write about fish attacks. But we had one out here on the West Coast over the weekend when a surfer was mistaken by a shark for something a bit tastier than the neophrene wetsuit he was wearing.

Now, we don’t think Deb talks with the fishes. But we do think her timing when it comes to the pop culture zeitgeist is, er, spot-on. So, once again, we’ll remind you: We say it here first, you read it there later.

Thanks, as always, for reading. Those of you who want to be ahead of the curve might consider a subscription to our weekly newsletter (it’s free, it’s fun and we won’t sell your name to anyone!). Those of you who like more regular updates can subscribe to our RSS feed. Updates via RSS are also available via MyYahoo and Bloglines
