Hey, news junkies, we’ve got a site for you. Newsmap offers the best of two worlds – it’s pretty and informative. And it’s not a bad little piece of engineering. For all that and more, it’s today’s HotSpot.

Created a few year ago by Dan Albritton and Marcos Weskamp, Newsmap renders Google searches as boxes – the bigger the box, the more popular the item. Newsmap uses color to denote the news categories so you get headlines at a glance – the Internet way. And you can tab to another country’s searches to see what’s important outside the U.S.
