It looks as though retired political scientist Marshal Zeringue – who writes about books and movies here at Spot-on was er, spot on in his predictions about the House races. Only Matthew Holt came close, correctly calling the Tennessee Senate race but coming in a bit low on his predictions for a Democratic victory in the House.

Marshal called the House for the Democrats at 228 to 207. That’s about where things stand as of this writing with about a dozen race still hanging. Almost everyone here at Spot-on thought the Senate would be about evenly divided and since two races remain open – and may not be final for a few days – we’ll have to get back to you on that category.

The rest of us? Ah, we were all wrong, some wildly so. But hey, the whole point of predictions is – sometimes – be wrong. Or, as one of our (long-suffering) former editors once said: If you can’t be right, at least be entertaining.

We’ll have our more formal takes on the election and what will be happening next – in Washington and elsewhere – over the course of the next few days. So come back and see us.
